COLUMBUS, Ohio (June 29, 2017) - The CW Columbus, WWHO-TV 53 has released its 2017 broadcast schedule for Thursday Night Lights presented by University of Findlay, the weekly, live high school football broadcast. Now in its 6th season, TNL features a top Central Ohio matchup each Thursday night during High School football season.

This season features two games being played at the newly built Fortress Field in Obetz, home to the Columbus lacrosse team, the Ohio Machine. Also, 3 new schools will be making their Thursday Night Lights debut.

"This may be the most diverse schedule we've ever put together for Thursday Night Lights,” says Randy Rhinehart, TNL play-by-play announcer. “We will feature teams from the Ohio Capital Conference, the Columbus City League, the Central Catholic League, the Mid-State League, and the Licking County League.”

A few accolades of the 2017 schedule include, 11 teams who made playoffs last season, 5 Division Champs, 15 teams that were .500 or more and 9 teams with 8 wins or more.

8/31 Hamilton Township at Groveport-Madison (played at Fortress Field in Obetz)*

9/7 Big Walnut at Dublin Scioto

9/14 Teays Valley at Bloom-Carroll

9/21 Westland at Canal Winchester

9/28 Eastmoor Academy at Marion-Franklin

10/5 Johnstown at Newark Catholic (played at White Field in Newark)

10/12 Westerville at Olentangy Orange

10/19 Worthington Kilbourne at Hilliard Bradley

10/26 Bexley at Bishop Ready (played at Fortress Field in Obetz)

*6 PM kick off, all other broadcasts kick off at 7 PM.

"We share the same passion for high school football that our viewers do," commented Tony D'Angelo, General Manager, CW Columbus. "It's exciting to showcase area high school athletes, foster relationships with local schools, and provide our viewers with live, local sports."

The games can be seen live, on-air on CW Columbus, WWHO-TV 53 and can be streamed online at www.cwcolumbus.

TNL is the only over the air high school sports program in central Ohio. Sister station ABC 6 will once again be broadcasting live from 5pm-6:30pm throughout the season, featuring the talents of high school bands, cheerleaders, and previewing matchup.

Thursday Night Lights debuted on The CW Columbus, WWHO-TV 53 in 2012 as the only program in central Ohio to offer weekly high school football live in HD. Each broadcast includes plaque presentations to scholar athletes from each school, recognizing them for their academic and athletic achievements.
