Big Sandy Scholar Athletes of the Week for October 6


The Big Sandy Scholar Athletes of the Week are chosen weekly by the school administrators of their respective high schools.

This week, we are pleased to announce Alexis Butterbaugh and Megan Robinson.

Amanda-Clearcreek Senior Alexis Butterbaugh

Athletically, Alexis is a 4 year Varsity Letter and Co-Captain of the Amanda-Clearcreek girls soccer team and received Mid-State League Honorable Mention. She is also a 3 year Varsity Letter and Co-Captain of the AC girls Track team. and a 1 year Varsity Letter in Cross Country.

Academically, Alexis has received Highest Honor Roll achievement of 12 quarters with a 4.0 GPA. She has also received the Scholar Athlete Award for 6 seasons, is a Buckeye Girls State Delegate and is taking 3 Advanced Placement classes - AP Language and Composition, AP Calculus and AP Biology.

Alexis is very involved in extracurricular activities at Amanda-Clearcreek, including President of National Honor Society, Class of 2017 Vice President and Student Council Vice President and President of AC Extreme 4-H Club. She's also a member of the Science Club, Hosler Foundation and Diocesan Catholic Youth Council. Alexis is an OSU International Exchange student host sibling, St. Joseph First Grade Catechist, a 4-year Mission participant and a volunteer for the Pickaway County Dog Shelter.

With a GPA of 4.138 and is ranked in the top five percent of her class putting her on target to graduate as one of Amanda-Clearcreek’s Valedictorians with an honor’s diploma. Alexis has not yet selected a college.

Bloom Carroll Senior Megan Robinson

Athletically, Megan is a 3-year letter in Soccer and 2016 Team Captain. She has been to 3 Mid-State League Championships and received 2 Mid-State League Honorable Mentions, including the 2015 Mid-State League Academic All-League Honor. Megan also is a 2-year letter in Basketball and was the 2015 Team Captain. She received accolades as the 2015 Mid-State League Honorable Mention, 2015 OSHAA Basketball Coaches Scholarship Society Awar and was the 2015 OSHAA Foundation Student Leadership Conference Representative.

Academically, Megan is Valedictorian of her class, Treasurer of the National Honor Society, President of the Spanish Club and Secretary of the Key Club. Megan is the 2016 Advanced Placement Scholar Award with 5 AP Courses. She was the 2015 Better Business Bureau Student of Integrity Scholarship Nominee. She score a 27 on her ACT and a 1290 on her SAT.

Megan is a Volunteer Assistant Coach for the BC Youth Athletics Association, a volunteer judge and assistant for the BCHS Science Fair and a Spanish Teacher's Aide. She has logged 210+ hours of community volunteer hours.

Megan was recently elected to the 2016 BCHS Homecoming Court. She's employed as a Style Advisor for Justice, Inc. and a former youth Soccer Referee for the Groveport Madison Parks & Recreation Department.

Megan plans to attend Miami University, and has a GPA of 4.219.

During football season, each school administration chooses a senior athlete that is academically and athletically eligible. At the end of football season, Heather and Jared will enter 18 other athletes and will be eligible to win a $5,000 scholarship to their college.
