COLUMBUS -- Columbus Crew SC officials confirmed Sunday the team will appeal the red card ruling against defender Harrison Afful Saturday night. Afful's late-game tackle and resulting call left the team down a man the final 15 minutes against visiting DC United.
Afful's exit may have contributed to the tying goal by DC United's Fabian Espindola in the 89th minute. The match ended in a 1-all draw, the Crew's fourth straight tie and sixth in their last seven games.
Crew SC Sporting Director Gregg Berhalter was asked about the ruling by reporters post-game.
You'll hear his response in this report.
