Columbus was filled with excitement Saturday for the MLS Cup as the Crew SC took on Seattle.
Bars and restaurants were preparing for the showdown, along with fans.
Just 1,500 fans were able to take a chair in MAPFRE for the game due to restrictions from COVID-19.
"Very, very lucky," said Madalyn Ireton. "My dad was able to get the tickets, and we're just beyond excited to see this victory."
Jeff Josephson was thrilled he got last minute tickets. "Totally psyched. I mean, it's the MLS Cup. How can you not be excited?"
Some waiting in line to get into MAPFRE were sporting green for Seattle but most were decked with yellow and black.
"It's just a hodgepodge of I like to be a crew fan. The pants, the shoes, the shirts, the coats, and the flags. It's collected over the years and grown," said one man dressed in yellow and black from head to toe.
Fans were hopeful The Crew would take home the cup. "I think it will be tight," said Josephson.
Ireton is just excited to see Columbus back in the game. "It was disappointing in 2015 but we're excited now. We think it's going to be a good game."
Also preparing for the big game, bars, and restaurants. Among them, Land Grant in Franklinton.
"We've been waiting for this," said Justin Ryan, a bartender at the brewery. "It's been pretty happy. Everyone's been you know yelling "go crew" every time they come in the brewery. We've got it decorated in there. It's a good feeling tonight."
The brewery is always backed for Crew games and despite the pandemic, the staff expected Saturday night to be special. "We're excited to bring the cup home. So we're going to do it any way that we have to and anyway we can."
