Crew falls to Minnesota in penalty shootout, eliminated from MLS is Back tournament

The Columbus Crew scored a late equalizer, but fell to Minnesota United FC in a penalty shootout and has been eliminated from the MLS is Back Tournament.

The Crew and Minnesota were tied 1-1 at the end of regulation and Minnesota won the shootout 5-3.

After not conceding a goal in group play, the Crew fell behind in the 18th minute when Robin Lod gave Minnesota a 1-0 lead.

Columbus dominated possession throughout the game and in the 79th minute earned a penalty.

The Gyasi Zardes' penalty was saved, but he scored on the rebound to tie the match.

Minnesota converted on all five of its penalties in the shootout and advances to the MLS is Back Tournament quarterfinals.
