Columbus Crew SC midfielder Darlington Nagbe confirmed Friday he has tested positive for COVID-19.

This comes after the Crew announced that he and fellow midfielder Pedro Santos will miss the MLS Cup because they are not "medically not cleared to play."

"After such a long and tough season, I'm gutted to not be able to play in the final on Saturday with the team," Nagbe said on Twitter. "Coming home and getting an opportunity to play in the cup final in front of our fans would have been a dream come true. I'll be watching and cheering! I have confidence the team will play their hearts out and do everything possible to life the cup!!"

Nagbe said he is currently symptom-free and he and his family are feeling well.

"Please make sure you do your part in stopping the spread of this virus," he said. "My thoughts and prayers are with everyone impacted by COVID."

Nagbe has played in 15 matches while making 14 starts. He has one goal and an assist. His lone goal of the year was named the MLS Goal of the Year.

The Crew is set to host Seattle Saturday in the MLS Cup. Kickoff is set for 8:30 p.m on FOX 28.
