Columbus Crew SC provides COVID-19 testing update ahead of MLS Cup match against Seattle

With just days until their MLS Cup match against the Seattle Sounders FC, the Columbus Crew SC confirmed Wednesday that one player has tested positive for COVID-19.

The Crew also said that six players who were unavailable during the Club's previous matches in its playoff run have now been cleared to resume training.

The Crew will continue to administer COVID-19 testing each day this week. Individuals that return after an initial positive result self-isolate under a strict and detailed protocol. The Club added that extensive contact tracing takes place.

On Wednesday, the Ohio Department of Health reported more than 10,000 new cases of COVID-19 in the state.

The Crew looks to secure its second MLS Cup trophy this weekend. They host the Seattle Sounders FC at MAPFRE Stadium on Saturday night, a limited number of fans will be able to attend.

The game will be televised at 8 pm on FOX 28.
