Three Columbus Crew SC players spent Monday afternoon at the Ronald McDonald House of Central Ohio, helping local families during a time of need.

Nike Hansen, Jonathan Mensah, and Patrick Mullins helped serve dinner as part of the team's "Black and Gold Week." The week leads up to the season opener this Saturday against the New York Red Bulls.

"It's great, we have some free time to help the community and it's always great to hang out with them, take pics with them, and even serve them. It's really great," said Mensah.

The Ronald McDonald House of Central Ohio is the largest of its kind in the world after a massive expansion in 2014.

ABC 6/FOX 28 will continue to follow the events of "Black and Gold Week."
