The 13th ranked Buckeyes are in the midst of a four-game homestand and an eight-game winning streak as they host Penn State Thursday night at 8.
"We haven't done anything yet," graduate transfer guard Andrew Dakich told reporters Wednesday.
Ohio State last started 9-0 in the Big Ten during the 2011 conference season with 11-consecutive wins to start the league season. Chris Holtmann is the first Ohio State coach to start the conference season 9-0 in his first year in Columbus.
Chris Holtmann is the first Big Ten coach to record a 9-0 record in conference play during his first season since Sam Barry went 11-0 to start the 1923 campaign at Iowa 95 years ago. Holtmann is the third coach in conference history to start his career in league play at 9-0 or better.
The last time Ohio State won nine-consecutive conference games was at the end of the 2010 season (4) and the start of the 2011 campaign (11). Seven of those games were on the road and four were against ranked teams (at No. 11 Michigan State, at No. 23 Illinois, vs. No. 12 Purdue and at No. 18 Minnesota).
"It can all be taken away so quickly," Holtmann told reporters. "But this group is hungry and mature. If you start to think beyond the day to day you can lose focus." Ohio State is a surprising 18-4 on the season.
Penn State is 13-8 overall, 3-5 in the Big Ten. The game tips at 8 pm on BTN.
