The CW Columbus will be at the event"lower amphitheater inside the RPAC"hosting an open audition to find the next CW Star.
Excitement prevails at the CW Columbus offices about this years search, which Ellen Daly, Station Vice President/General Manager, says will out-shine the previous six years of auditions.
"We are dedicated to finding our next amazing talent and growing the franchise in 2013 to dazzle and entertain our audience like never before," she says.
As the CW Star, you are the link between our television station and the Columbus community. You will embody the CW networks hip, fresh appeal locally. From public service campaigns and sideline sports reporting, to backstage interviews with top music acts and rubbing shoulders with the Columbus Crew, The Star utilizes his/her position to promote network shows, produce exclusive on-air and web-based content and keep the pulse of who, what and where is hot in the city. The CW Star also works directly with our clients as a brand ambassador/spokesperson, increasing public awareness for our clients products, events and services.
Megan Kingston, Advertising and Promotions Manager of The Columbus Crew, put it simply. "Kaitlin has worked to generate buzz in the Columbus Crew by truly giving her fans an inside look at the Columbus Crew team, organization and stadium. She has been a great brand ambassador, and we are pleased in the way she portrayed our organization within her blogs and through her interviews."
Being CW Star also enhances your career path.
"Serving as CW Star for a year is a phenomenal opportunity for anyone who wants to launch a career in the entertainment, broadcast or media-relations industries," says David S. Guion, Executive Director of The Dublin Arts Council, an organization that has worked with multiple CW Stars. "The video clips, blog posts and overall social media presence are certain to launch each CW Star with a portfolio advantage that will last a lifetime."
What are we looking for to fill this position, you may wonder? Anything and everything! We need people with personality for days. We need social butterflies who aren't afraid to take chances and make connections throughout the city's many communities and demographics. Were looking for a man or woman with the tech savvy to produce and edit video features and generate buzz in a meaningful public relations sense. Were looking for a humble, grounded individual who our audience can connect with, enticing them to tune in to see what adventure The Star is getting into next. The Star must possess unbridled motivation and creativity.
John Paton, Owner of J.Bentley Studio and Spa, acknowledged the spectrum of skill it takes to be CW Star, saying it is like being immersed into the worlds of broadcast media, marketing and business in general all at once.
"If the CW Star really invests the time and energy to cultivate the relationships and learn from the pros, it is the first step to success," Paton says.
