The homicide victim was identified as 61-year-old Linda Cowans.
Columbus Police say Cowans was found inside her home at 1275 East 17th Avenue when she was shot. Investigators say other family members hear the shots, but were in other rooms of the house when it happened and didn't have any information about possible suspects.
Two victims were rushed to the hospital with life-threatening injuries after shootings Tuesday night, with one later passing away. The shootings, which happened just five minutes apart, are not linked at this point, police say.
Police received a call about a shooting at a home on Loretta Avenue at 9:46 p.m. As officers responded to that scene, another call came in about a shooting on East 17th Avenue, about two miles away, at 9:51 p.m.
Authorities say the Loretta Avenue victim was taken to Grant Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. The East 17th Avenue victim was taken to Grant in critical condition, and later died from their injuries.
Investigators are still at both scenes, and have not released any more information about the victims or possible suspects.
