Ventures Academy is an alternative school for students in need of social and behavioral interventions, but it’s the behavior of one of its administrators that is being scrutinized by police. A female administrator has been placed on leave after a 14-year-old boy told police he had been involved in a sexual relationship with the woman for six months.
ABC 6 is not naming the administrator since she has not been charged with a crime. School officials said the woman was placed on leave immediately after officials heard of the alleged relationship.
Columbus Police detectives are looking into the situation after they said the 14-year-old told them of the ongoing relationship. It’s not clear where the potential crimes may have happened and why CPD is investigating. The school is in rural Delaware County, near Kilbourne.
The school is operated by the Education Services Center of Central Ohio which operates alternative schools in eight counties. The ESC would not make anyone available for comment, but sent out a video statement in which the superintendent of the schools said employees are “sickened” by the alleged actions of the administrator.
“I’m sorry that this happened,” said Mike Trego in the video.
Trego said they have offered the student and his family counseling, as well as any student who has concerns about these allegations.
