18-year-old killed in officer-involved shooting in far east Columbus

An 18-year-old died following an officer-involved shooting Wednesday night in southeast Columbus. The teen was identified Thursday as Tasjon Tyreek Osbourne.

Officers were patrolling the area of Gallant Drive and Kings Realm Avenue for a parking complaint at 8:51 p.m., Columbus police said in a written statement.

Police said "moments later," officers reported shots fired.

On Thursday, Columbus Police identified the officer as Sergeant Lee Hurst, a 13-year veteran with the Division. Sgt. Hurst was on patrol on his Division-issued bicycle.
