It's that time of year! ABC 6 and FOX 28 are teaming up with our radio partner 92.3 WCOL and the Marine Corps Reserve for the annual 'Toys for Tots Drive'.

The event takes place on Saturday, December 7th, and the goal is to collect 60,000 toys.

“It just makes you feel really, really good,” said Tamiera Brown, with the Moose Riders 1427 organization.

Toy collection has become a tradition for the Moose Riders 1427 group. Each year, they begin gathering donations as early as July and dedicate a day in December to shop for the toys.

“I believe we ended up spending about 45 hundred dollars,” said Brown.

With dozens of partners across Central Ohio collecting toys, the goal is to make sure every kid has a gift to open this year.

“I can’t imagine a child anywhere, especially here in our beloved community of Central Ohio, to go without a toy or to go without a gift during the holidays,” said Boxer, a Radio Host on 92.3 WCOL.

The greatest toy needs for boys ages 10 to 12 are footballs and basketballs, and for girls ages eight to 10 it is coloring books and jewelry

“It’s so easy to get a plushy bear or a board game,” said Boxer. “Especially for those teenagers, they have a heart and soul, and we can’t forget about all the great things we can get for them.”

If you’re looking to get involved, stop by ABC 6 and FOX 28 on Dublin Road in West Columbus between 6 am and 2 pm to donate your toys. All toys must be new and unwrapped.
