The Grandview Heights Public Library doesn't just offer books, but an array of items to check out, including guitars, LPs, and even literacy backpacks to help kids learn to read (WSYX/WTTE)

When you think of borrowing items from the library, you probably think of books, CDs and maybe even DVDs. However, libraries across the country are also offering unique items to check out.

Grandview Heights Public Library - ranked one of the top libraries in its size category for four consecutive years by Library Journal - is one of those places with non-traditional items available to borrow.

They loan out guitars, silde/negative scanners, pre-loaded e-readers, vinyl records and early literacy backpacks. Plus, laptop computers are available to use in-library only.

In addition, their digital library offers free access to subscription services like Lynda.com, PhotoOhio.org and Learning Express Library.
