LICKING COUNTY, Ohio (WSYX/WTTE) -- An elderly woman has died after a deadly accident in Licking County near Granville late Thursday afternoon.
Troopers said three vehicles (a Peterbilt box truck, a black Hyundai Elantra, and tan Buick LeSabre) collided on State Route 16 near Silver Street in Granville Township.
Shirley Ashbrook, 81, of Alexandria, was driving the Buick westbound when she went left of center and clipped the box truck in the side, then struck the oncoming Hyundai head-on, troopers said. Ashbrook was pronounced dead at the scene by a crew with the Licking County Coroner's Office.
Troopers said they believe the she experienced a medical issue at the time of the crash.
The driver of the Hyundai, 19-year-old Ashley Winters of Pataskala, was taken to Licking Memorial Hospital with non-life threatening injuries and is expected to be okay. Brian Miller, the 58-year-old driver of the box truck, wasn't injured.
Troopers said everyone wore seatbelts and alcohol is not suspected.
The accident remains under investigation.
