Say hello to Columbus Zoo and Aquarium's newest member! The zoo released the first picture of baby gorilla JJ Monday morning.
The picture shows JJ being cradled by his mom Tabibu.JJ was just born September 28th
Zoo officials say both mom and baby are doing well. But they are giving them time to bond behind the scenes, so the public won't be able to see them for at least several more weeks.
JJ's parents are Macombo II (Mac) and Tabibu. The Columbus Zoo says this is Mac's first biological offspring, and JJ is part of a family of world-famous gorillas. His grandmother is Colo, the first gorilla born in human care. She's now considered the oldest gorilla on record, approaching 60 years old.
