Columbus Police are now searching for a woman believed to have stolen an expensive puppy Sunday afternoon from a Northwest Columbus pet store.

Surveillance cameras capture the woman taking the nine-week-old puppy from Petland's at Carriage Place Plaza store . Petland officials believe the woman may have had some help walking off with the dog. The pet chain says shortly before the heist a woman and two young children walked into the store and asked to see the animal. Petland officials say while the three were playing with the dog in a cubicle, another woman came along, put the pet worth thousands of dollars in a bag, covered it with a coat and then the walked out the store's front door. Within 30 seconds the woman and kids leave the the store.

Petland officials declined to talk on camera but say a microchip in the dog has been activated and police are now following up on tips. The store chain tells ABC 6/Fox 28 if the dog is not returned by Wednesday afternoon, felony charges will be filed.
