Nicki Minaj announces her retirement from music

Nicki Minaj took to Twitter on Thursday to announce that she would be retiring from music.

The "Anaconda" rapper said she wants to focus on starting a family with her fiancé Kenneth Petty.

"I’ve decided to retire & have my family. I know you guys are happy now. To my fans, keep reppin me, do it til da death of me, ? in the box- cuz ain’t nobody checkin me. ? Love you for LIFE ??????," Minaji said on Twitter.

This comes as a surprise for many of her fans, because the raptress has been very active in the music scene this summer. Minaj joined fellow female rapper Megan Thee Stallion for her summer anthem "Hot Girl Summer." The Queens rapper also released a song this summer titled "Megatron."

Many of her fans are hoping she will change her mind on retiring from music.
